When we touched a whale!

On a Presidents' day weekend we took a bus tour with Andiamo Travels from San Diego to Mexico to get a closer look at the annual gray whale migration. This is the longest migration in the mammalian world with the whales traveling thousands of miles from the Arctic Ocean to the warm waters of Baja California. On the way, we had amazing Mexican food in Encinitas and made it all the way to Guerrero Negro, a town located in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.  Here we took two boat rides with our tour guides on a small fishing boat and saw several whale breaches, spy hops and flukes.

To top it all off a mother and baby whale pair hung around our boat for several minutes and let us pet them! Yes we actually touched the magnificent gray whales!!! :) We can never forget this experience!
